Aruba tourism leaders are putting natural-resource protection, responsible travel and community value at the centre of the island’s long-term visitor strategy.
At the opening of the Aruba Global Travel Conference 2026, Tourism Minister Wendrick Cicilia, Aruba Tourism Authority CEO Ronella Croes and Chief Marketing Officer Sanju Luidens outlined an approach that measures success by the value tourism creates for Aruba, not simply by the number of arrivals.
Natural resources form part of the tourism strategy
The direction combines a strong visitor economy with protection of Aruba’s natural resources, culture and residents’ quality of life. ATA plans to strengthen resilience by diversifying source markets and attracting travellers who support responsible tourism, including environmentally conscious visitors.
Officials also described a goal of stabilizing visitor volume rather than pursuing unlimited growth. Managing the combined flow through the airport and cruise port is part of maintaining demand while reducing pressure on the destination and its community.
Visitors are asked to help protect Aruba
The strategy reflects a two-way relationship between Aruba and its guests. Through the “When You Love Aruba, It Loves You Back” platform, visitors are encouraged to appreciate and protect the island while enjoying their stay.
ATA said cooperation among international partners, the tourism industry and the community will be important to creating economic opportunity while preserving the qualities that make Aruba distinctive.
