Aruba has widened consultations over UTV and ATV operations as the government works toward an agreement before an October 5 court deadline.
Infrastructure and Telecommunications Minister Rene Herdé said officials are meeting affected groups separately so that each can explain its concerns and proposals in detail. The discussions include established operators as well as other organizations seeking a role in the process.
Environmental protection is part of the negotiations
The talks are intended to balance environmental protection and public safety with tourism, economic activity and the interests of operators that have worked in the sector for years. The goal is a clearer protocol for off-road vehicle activity and stronger cooperation among government, operators and groups that depend on the affected land and routes.
Government must report progress by October 5
The government is required to update the court on the status of negotiations by October 5. Herdé said the process is moving positively and expressed hope that a final agreement can be reached before that deadline.
