Aruba Appoints New Environmental officer following a special ceremony held at the Ministry of Justice.

During the event, Minister Arthur Dowers formally received Patrick Henriquez, who serves within the Department of Nature and Environment. After successfully completing the intensive Buitengewoon Opsporingsambtenaar (BOA) training program, Henriquez is now authorized to issue fines for violations related to nature conservation and environmental protection.

With this swearing-in, Aruba now has an additional BOA officer empowered to enforce environmental regulations within the scope of his official duties and specific appointment. While a BOA officer holds limited authority compared to police officers, the role significantly strengthens monitoring, control, and enforcement of Aruba’s environmental laws.

The appointment supports Aruba’s ongoing efforts to protect its natural environment and ensure compliance with regulations that safeguard the island’s ecosystems.
