Aruba’s tourism strategy for 2027 is shifting its focus from visitor volume toward value, responsible tourism and residents’ quality of life.
The Aruba Tourism Authority is targeting approximately 1.4% growth in stay-over visitors. At the same time, it has acknowledged that tourism places pressure on housing, traffic, infrastructure, natural resources and quality of life.
Responsible tourism becomes a strategic priority
The strategy includes attracting environmentally conscious visitors and limiting cruise-passenger volume while seeking more spending per visitor. It also calls for market diversification and continued advocacy for a well-regulated, transparent short-term rental sector.
A global study commissioned by the authority found that 96% of respondents considered responsible tourism important. Seventy-three percent wanted to leave a positive impact on the destinations they visit, but only 23% felt they had received enough information about how to do so.
For Aruba, the challenge is to translate those intentions into measurable protection for infrastructure, natural resources and community well-being as the visitor economy continues to grow.
