Aruba has introduced a compact, fully electric beach-cleaning robot at Eagle Beach, adding a lower-emission tool to the island’s coastal-maintenance work.
The Bebot Beach Cleaner was demonstrated during a press conference held by Aruba’s Minister of Tourism. Representatives described it as the first robot of its kind operating in the Caribbean.
For residents, visitors, and environmental organizations, the project shows how cleaner technology can complement responsible waste prevention, public education, and hands-on beach care.
An Electric Alternative for Beach Maintenance
Aruba has previously used larger diesel-powered machines to clean broad sections of beach. Those machines remain useful, but their size can make tighter areas difficult to reach.
The Bebot is smaller and more maneuverable. Its compact design allows it to operate in spaces where larger equipment may not fit, and its electric drive produces no direct emissions during use.

Alex Mansur, director of Varadero Caribe N.V., said the company conducted extensive research before selecting and introducing the equipment. He connected the investment with quality, innovation, environmental responsibility, and Aruba’s wider goal of supporting more sustainable tourism.
A representative of the Bebot’s developer said the machine was designed by an engineering company specializing in environmentally friendly robots. The unit is expected to remain in Aruba in the coming years and support ongoing beach-maintenance work.
